Devote time to caring for your health and reflect on your own wellness needs.
The client-trainer relationship consists of four stages: rapport, investigation, planning, and action. The investigative stage is crucial as it determines a client's future success in the following planning and action phases. During this stage, we build trust and connection while creating an environment that helps the client feel safe and cared for. We also gather essential information to develop an appropriate exercise program that the client will enjoy and succeed with. In this course, we will explore strategies to assist personal trainers in creating an effective, thoughtful, and intentional initial consultation experience to ensure the client’s immediate success. Strategies include effectively utilizing behavior change and motivational theories, following an interview order of operations, asking questions to gain deeper insights, setting meaningful goals, and implementing strategies to support the client’s immediate success with physical activity.
